The Jersey Shore is where you usually find Vinny Guadagnino, one of the stars of the just-ended MTV reality show about summer in Seaside Heights, N.J.

But as the year 2013 dawned, you could find Guadagnino on a beach a bit farther north -- Coney Island in New York.

The 25-year-old TV personality was among hundreds of people who took part in the annual Coney Island Polar Bear Plunge on New Year's Day, braving frigid temperatures to dive into the Atlantic for a good cause.

For the second consecutive year, Cold-EEZE sponsored Guadagnino's participation in the event, which raises money for the charity Camp Sunshine. This year, proceeds for the plunge were being used for Sandy relief efforts. The Coney Island area, as well as Guadagnino's native Staten Island, were badly flooded by the late October storm.
