Jay-Z performs "Picasso Baby" for six hours at New York art gallery

Jay-Z took over a New York City art gallery on Wednesday where he performed his song "Picasso Baby" for six hours straight, according to Complex magazine.

The rapper was filming a music video for the track, turning the shoot into an art installation at the Pace Gallery watched by an audience that included art critics, director Judd Apatow, actor Alan Cumming, rapper Wale, J. Crew creative director Jenna Lyons and artist Laurie Simmons (mother of "Girls" star Lena Dunham).

He was also joined by performance artist Marina Abramovic, known for her 2010 piece "The Artist is Present" (which is said to have inspired Wednesday's event).

Photos and video from the invitation-only event show Jay-Z performing the song in the center of the gallery as guests watched from around the perimeter.

The song was appropriate for the art gallery location -- along with Pablo Picasso, it gives shout-outs to Mark Rothko, Jeff Koons, Francis Bacon, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and the Mona Lisa.

"Picasso Baby" is from Jay-Z's newly-released album,"Magna Carta Holy Grail."
