(CBS) LEE COUNTY, Fla. - A man has been arrested for allegedly withholding his positive HIV status from a sexual partner, according to CBS affiliate WINK.

James Redmond reportedly knew of HIV positive status since at least 2010. Redmond turned himself in on Friday after his attorney provided police with his medical documentation.

Redmond allegedly had sex with a man without informing him that he was HIV positive, which is a felony in the state of Florida.

The unidentified man pressing charges against Redmond told WINK that he they met online and the suspect said he was clean before had intercourse.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Redmond admitted that he has known for more than two years that he is HIV positive.

The station reports a judge ordered Redmond, who is out on bail, to have no contact with the alleged victim.
