Jada Pinkett Smith In Edgy Film

Jada Pinkett Smith has been one busy lady, juggling a full-time career with motherhood. She's expecting her second child, the third child for her husband, Will Smith — "I have a bonus son, Trey" — which means that there will be "three kids in the family," says the actress.

Her latest film, Bamboozled which opens in a few weeks, is a tough movie to categorize. There is singing and dancing in it but it's not a musical. There are laughs in it but it's not a comedy. Smith explained to CBS News Entertainment Reporter Mark McEwen that there's "big-time controversy" surrounding the movie.

"It's about an…African-American male writer who works for a big studio, who is trying to get fired," said Smith. "The studio has come to him and said, 'Listen, we're tired of all these Bill Cosby shows. We need a real black show.'"

"So he writes this modern-day minstrel show and thinks it will get him fired. And it actually turns into a huge hit and he gets seduced by the popularity of the show and the success. And it's just about what will you sell of yourself, for that success?"

Smith said she went into the project knowing it probably wouldn't be a blockbuster film.

"It was a subject matter that we all felt…it was about time someone put it on the table, to talk about. And so that was more important to us than, you know, having that Hollywood hit. And so I call projects like this "edutainment," said Smith.

"You learn a lot about the history of Hollywood in this movie. It was quite an awakening for me, that's for sure."
