Italian fugitive can't resist his wife's lasagna; hope it was worth getting caught

(CBS/AP) ROME - A fugitive had managed to avoid Italian police for over a decade, but eventually they discovered his weakness - his wife's lasagna.

Giancarlo Sabatini went into hiding in 2000, shortly after being given a 3-year, 8-month prison sentence in a cocaine trafficking case.

After receiving a tip that Sabatini might be in Italy, the police staked out both his wife's and daughter's home in Rocca Priora, a town near Rome, Tuesday. When they saw the daughter leaving her mother's house and surreptitiously dashing toward her home, bearing a tray of lasagna, the police knew she was hiding a special guest.

They burst in and arrested Sabatini.

Police say Sabatini came from his hideout in Belgium to celebrate the last day before Lent with his family. Thanks to the lasagna, the scales of justice are now weighing against him.
