I was surprised that Britney took the lead (albeit narrowly) until I got out on the street and started to talk to people. She and OJ Simpson were the only names most people recognized.
I figured Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was obscure, but Larry Craig? I thought the ole' Bathroom Brigadier was a household name by now.
I certainly had a good time talking to people in front of Macy's in Herald Square. It is the very same place where "Miracle on 34th Street" was filmed, and it's one of my favorite spots in the whole city. Be sure to visit the food court down in the basement. The food is delicious and the salad bar is one of the best in the city.
We met a lot of tourists and several groups who were in town to dance or march in the Thanksgiving parade. They were all good sports—especially the high school dancing troop.
