iPhone OS 4.0: Vote for Your Most-Wanted Feature!

Apple surprised just about everyone yesterday by scheduling an iPhone OS 4.0 preview event for Thursday. This Thursday. Like, two days from now.

I think most of us expected something closer to June, perhaps to coincide with an iPhone 4 announcement. No doubt that's still to come, but in the meantime we'll get some insight into the new hardware by learning what's new about the software.

When OS 3.0 made its debut last year, copy-and-paste and MMS were among the celebrated features. So what will OS 4.0 bring us? Multitasking? That seems pretty likely. A better way to manage our apps? God, I hope so. Business users are no doubt clamoring for a unified inbox, something Steve Jobs has already promised.
