Dwight Gooden, who pulled himself from a start Monday night against Boston after just 2 2-3 innings with shoulder stiffness, Tuesday was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Cleveland Indians.
Gooden, 3-3 with a 5.81 ERA in 17 starts, went on the DL as Jaret Wright came off. Wright was scheduled to start Tuesday night's game against Boston's Pedro Martinez, who was also coming off the DL.
The Indians, decimated by injuries all season, now have five players on the disabled list, including regulars Travis Fryman, Sandy Alomar and Wil Cordero.
Gooden, who had pitched seven strong innings in his previous start, is eligible to come off the disabled list on Aug. 18.
