Indiana Pounds Boise St. In Classic


A.J. Guyton scored a season-high 26 points and No. 11 Indiana connected on 30 of 38 free throws to defeat Boise State 90-66 in the opening game of the 25th Indiana Classic Friday night.

The Hoosiers (9-2), unbeaten in the event's history, will play the winner of the Bowling Green-Grambling game in Saturday's championship game.

Reserve William Gladness had 11 points for Indiana and Luke Recker had 10 points, three assists and four steals.

Roberto Bergersen led the Boise State (5-2) with 30 points, 19 in the second half.

Indiana took command with an 18-8 run to open the second half. Guyton ignited the rally with seven consecutive points including a 3-pointer with 17:45 left. Boise State committed three turnovers on its first five possessions of the second half and were limited to four field goals in the first eight minutes of the period.

Indiana forced 21 turnovers overall and outrebounded the Broncos 34-27.

The Hoosiers built a 50-31 halftime lead with a 16-5 run during the final five minutes of the half. Indiana connected on 64 percent of its first half shots.
