Indian Wins "Big Brother" After Race Row

A 31-year-old Indian actress has won the British reality TV show "Celebrity Big Brother."

But in the process, Shilpa Shetty endured alleged racial bullying that triggered protests in India and sparked a race relations debate in Britain.

Shetty won the public's support after fellow contestant Jade Goody hurled racially-tinged insults at her in an episode that led to a record 40,000 complaints to media regulators about the program.

South Asian and anti-racist groups say it revealed the face of racism in Britain.

But Shetty is defending Goody. The actress says, "She is a little aggressive and hot-tempered, but she's not a racist."

Shetty says "it's truly been a roller coaster ride." But as she puts it, "The highs, the lows, each one has taught me so much."
