Improve Your Work Day with Free iPhone Music Apps

Music. It keeps me sane. That's why I'm thrilled that there are so many options for listening to music on the iPhone and iPod Touch. I'm not talking about music you buy, either. I mean free, streaming music over your 3G or Wi-Fi connection. Here are the best of the best:

Pandora. The granddaddy of all free streaming music stations, Pandora lets you build radio stations based on specific artists. Then it delivers music that is similar, based on a wacky, allegedly scientific analysis of the music.
Last.fm. After you log into your desktop Last.fm account, you get free unlimited streaming of music in your pre-configured stations. Or switch to stations based on any of our favorite artists. You might recall that we wrote about the desktop version of Last.fm this time last year.
Slacker. Unlimited free music with occasional commercial interruption. This is one of Rick's favorites: Read his recent take on Slacker Radio for the iPhone.

And if all that isn't enough, don't forget that when you get home from work, you can control your Sonos music system using your iPhone or iPod Touch using the free Sonos Controller. This app does absolutely everything the regular Sonos remote does, essentially giving you a second $400 remote for free.
