Antiques Roadshow Pulls Episode
Another bump in the road for Antiques Roadshow. Producers of the popular public television show have yanked an episode after questioning the authenticity of one of the appraisals depicted in the show.
An official at WGBH in Boston -- where the show is produced -- says the station was concerned about an episode in which a woman brings in a 17th-century Milanese parade helmet she said she found in her attic. She's told it's worth about $250,000.
Officials say there's no reason to doubt that the item was a valuable helmet. But when the station recently tried to check out the woman's story, producers say she wouldn't return calls.
Last month, Antiques Roadshow said it was cutting all ties with two of the appraisers that had appeared on the show because they had staged an appraisal of a Civil War sword during the show's first season.
