(CBS/AP) HIALEAH, Fla. - Human remains have been found inside a burned-out car in Hialeah, Fla. Monday morning, and police are trying to determine whether they belong to more than one victim, according to CBS Miami.

The station reports firefighters found the remains after putting out the flames in an industrial area of the city at around 3 a.m.

Police spokesman Eddie Rodriguez reportedly said, "Forensics will go through the vehicle and determine exactly how many human remains were found inside the car."

The Miami Herald reports police are treating the case as a homicide.

Rodriguez said the fact that the car was set on fire makes the investigation more difficult, "The vehicle is very damaged, so right now we have to go through the whole process. We need to first identify the vehicle, figure out what kind of car it was and who it belongs to and start from there."

Police have reportedly pulled surveillance video from warehouses in the area hoping to find a lead.

The Herald says the scene is affecting some 500 school children in Hialeah and Miami Lakes. About a dozen school buses are parked in a nearby lot. Two bus drivers were able to leave but police have shut down the area, forcing other drivers to wait to get access to their buses.

No further details were immediately available.
