How to Sniff Out Real Holiday Deals

Right now, in just about every store, you see big signs saying "sale." But are you really getting best deal?

Brad Wilson, editor in chief of BradsDeals.com said on "The Early Show" Thursday now is not the best time to get a good deal.

Special Section: Holiday Gift Guide

"The holiday season started with a bang. Black Friday and Cyber Monday were fantastic. Prices have leveled off a bit and I also think you'll start to see prices come back down a bit starting the 22, 23 and week after Christmas. To give you an example, the best deals from Black Friday are approximately 21 percent higher today than they were just three weeks ago."

In terms of discounts, "Early Show" co-anchor Rebecca Jarvis noted the retailers are going to try and trick you.

Wilson said, "There's never been more discounts, but the question is, are you getting the best deal? A lot of stores are selling things for high prices and offering big coupons and discounts. You might think you are getting a good deal, but you're probably not getting the best deal."

So what are the best deals out there now?

Wilson suggested these current deals, featured on BradsDeals.com:

Finish Line Hoodies, 2 for $40 Shipped

Restaurant.com 70 percent off

$80 Food Saver Kit for $24

Express: 40 percent off plus $15 off $30

Wilson also shared these shopping tips:

Use Coupons: "Everyone forgets. That's the big thing simply to remember to use them about 5,000 active online coupons we have today at Bradsdeals and takes less than 90 seconds to grab one, print it out or take it to the store or get the coupon code. The savings is about 24 percent in less than 90 seconds -- something we should all try and remember."

Credit cards: "The big thing with credit carts many will double the warranty on any item you buy with that card all for free, no effort in our part. You and I probably have credit cards in our pockets that do that and it is probably worth knowing which do. You should never buy the warranty the store is selling you and take a look at your credit card if free."

Don't pay sales tax: "When you shop online, the sales tax is, in many cases, is not charged to 80 or 90 percent of the states. ... It's a huge savings."
