How to Quickly Turn an E-Mail Contact Into an Outlook Contact
So you just got an e-mail from a new hire in your department. Instead of switching over to your contact list, creating a new record, and manually entering (or copying and pasting) all the info, here's a shortcut:
In the e-mail message proper, right-click the sender's name, and then choose Add to Outlook Contacts. Presto: You'll get a new contact window with the name and e-mail fields already completed. Now just paste in the phone number(s) and you're done.
You can also use that right-click context menu to schedule a meeting, initiate a call, or even set up an e-mail rule. Ah, the right mouse button -- so powerful, yet so under-utilized.
Actually, this reminds me of another killer Outlook tip (albeit one that has nothing to do with the right mouse button): Quickly turn an e-mail into an appointment.
