How to Get a Temporary, Disposable E-Mail Address

10-minute-mail.jpg
How many times has this happened to you: You read about a cool-sounding site here on Business Hacks, sign up for it, then decide it's not really for you. But the site keeps sending you e-mail updates and other borderline spam. Wouldn't it be great if you had a temporary, disposable e-mail address you could use instead? That's the idea behind 10 Minute Mail, which, true to its name, generates e-mail addresses that expire after 10 minutes, and Guerilla Mail, which gives you 15-minute addresses.

All you do is head to either site and click the "give me an e-mail address" link. Once you've got the address, you can copy and paste it into another site's registration form. When the confirmation e-mail arrives from that site, you'll be able to open it and click the incorporated verification link. Presto: Now you're registered, but the site doesn't have your permanent e-mail address.

Obviously this isn't a good plan for sites that require regular communication with you -- like, say, Jott. But you can always re-register using your real e-mail address if you decide you like what the site has to offer.
