House, Senate Pass $120 Billion War-funding Bill
The Senate just passed the $120 billion Iraq funding bill by a 80-14 margin. Sens. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) and Barack Obama (Ill.), two of the leading Democratic presidential candidates for 2008, both voted against the legislation.
The House earlier passed the war-funding measure by 280-142 margin, with 140 Democrats voting "no" on the war portion of the bifurcated bill.
The legislation will now be sent onto President Bush, who has promised to sign it, and thus end a months-long political struggle with Democrats over U.S. policy in Iraq.
