House Oversight Committee Issues Subpoena For Chuck Knoblauch
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee issued a subpoena for former New York Yankee Chuck Knoblauch to appear before their as a part of their ongoing steroids investigation.
Knoblauch was one of several former players and clubhouse attendants invited to appear before the committee for a hearing on the issue on Feb. 13.
“The Committee has taken this step because Mr. Knoblauch failed to respond to the invitation to participate voluntarily in a deposition or transcribed interview and the February 13 hearing,” said committee chairman Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif) in a joint statement with committee ranking member Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.).
The subpoena is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of widespread use of steroids in Major League Baseball based on a report by former Senator George Mitchell (D-Maine.).
The 1991 American League Rookie of the Year, Knoblauch won several World Series rings with Yankees.
