Hottest Back-to-School Fashion Trends
Style is serious stuff for many kids -- especially when school starts up again.
And Cookie magazine Contributing Editor Chassie Post spotlighted some of the hottest looks as part of the "Early Show" series, "Back to School Early" on Tuesday.
She says finding the perfect outfit really is as big a deal as it seems to lots of youngsters. "Do you remember what a HUGE decision it was picking out that perfect back-to-school outfit?" she asks rhetorically. "I can still remember -- it's School Year's Eve, the night before the first day of school -- thinking what am I going to wear? What are my friends going to wear?! Am I going to be in style?!"
So, says Post, "We've got the hottest trends in back-to-school fashion to help make finding that perfect outfit a breeze!"
VARSITY SPORT
This look is all about team spirit - we're seeing looks inspired by the jocks & cheerleaders from the 50's. From cheerleader style skirts to vintage style football jerseys - we're seeing the varsity style everywhere!

BIKER PUNK
Think leather, buffalo check, boots & chains! Now, Mom's don't be afraid of this look - my school year's Resolution is to not argue with my son about what he's going to wear to school & let him have a little fun with his fashion. And this look lets kids feel dress like little rebels rather than act like them!
ON DARBY:
We've got an adorable black leather jacket with puffed sleeves from H & M ($34.95) with the a red and black buffalo check mini from target ($7.99) - which is the plaid of the season - you will see it every where!
Added black & white striped tights and patent leather Doc Maarten style boots from Wal-Mart for only $10 & topped the look off with a biker style hat
ON MALACHI:
Malachi is wearing a bright yellow buffalo check hoodie (fully lined so super warm) from Land's End ($34.50). We've paired it with the with the all-important skinny black jeans - a punk staple - from Old navy ($14.50) and a Converse high top. Add a Skull Scarf (KMART, $9.99) and a little chain wallet and he looks like a rebel with a cause - a cause for doing his homework let's hope!
