Hot on the Web: Republican candidates tracked on Twitter
Wondering who the trendiest candidate on Twitter is? Our new weekly web show "Hot on the Web" asks who is the most popular Republican presidential candidate on Twitter, and the answer might surprise you.
Sarah Dutton, director of surveys for CBS News, joins us to discuss a new tool from CBS News that analyzes who gets mentioned on Twitter and what words are most associated with those candidates.Dutton says about 18 percent of Americans who use the Internet visit Facebook or Twitter for at least some of their political news. And Twitter use spikes during high-profile events. About 500,000 tweets were sent during Wednesday night's debate on CNN alone.
