Holy Browser Wars! Google Unveils Chrome Browser (Windows)

If you thought the browser wars consisted solely of Internet Explorer versus Firefox, with little guys like Opera and Flock nipping at their heels, think again: Google just entered the browser fray with Google Chrome.

I've just installed it and will have more to say in the days to come. First impressions: I like the look, the Firefox-inspired features (including an Awesome Bar-like address bar), and especially the "most visited sites" thumbnails that appear when you open a new tab (watch the above video to see it in action). Note that Chrome doesn't appear to support extensions, so I'm not sure how successful it will be at combating Firefox. My guess is it'll find a foothold among novice users.

Could this be the first salvo in a rumored Google operating system? Time will tell. In the meantime, check out Google Chrome and let us know what you think.
