Hey, It's National Doughnut Day!

Attention, all you Krispy Kreme aficionados: You have an iron-clad excuse to indulge today. Because it's National Doughnut Day!

Nope, I'm not kidding. The idea of an entire day devoted to that tasty treat originated in 1938 as a Chicago Salvation Army fundraiser during the Great Depression, according to Holiday Insights. The Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts chains are handing out freebies to customers today, so make sure you stop by.

Better yet, pick up a dozen (or more) for your staff. You'll be honoring the holiday and building some morale to boot. Come to think of it...why not start a new doughnut tradition every Friday? Your team will love it, even though their waistlines might not.
