Hensarling Challenges RSC Members To Help Colleagues Keep Seats

Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling, who chairs the conservative Republican Study Committee, challenged members of the group Wednesday to raise more money for the cash-strapped National Republican Congressional Committee.

Hensarling's remarks come one day after Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) excoriated his members to get off their "dead asses" and raise more campaign cash for an upcoming fundraising dinner.

In challenging RSC members, Hensarling ran off a list of names of members who might not be back next year if their colleagues fail to raise enough money to protect them, according to a person present. And many of the members he named were in the room at the time, including Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Steve Chabot of Ohio, Tom Feeney of Florida and Marilyn Musgrave of Colorado.

Hensarling, for the record, is among the 15 lawmakers who has already met his pledged fundraising goal for the March 12 dinner.
