Heigl: Washington Is "Trying Very Hard"

One of T.R. Knight's best friends from "Grey's Anatomy" says Isaiah Washington is "trying very hard" to make up for calling Knight an anti-gay slur.

Katherine Heigl tells ABC's "Good Morning America" that she'd be "angrier about it" if it was being "ignored or just brushed under the rug." But she says they're "all trying very hard" to move on now that Washington is back from therapy.

Heigl also says a three-part episode that starts Thursday night is going to blow fans away.

The actress visited David Letterman on Thursday and talked about the controversy. Letterman joked with Heigl about whether the incident was a storyline or real life.

"No, that's not a storyline, believe it or not," Heigl said.

She later told Letterman that the cast is trying to move past the incident. "It was, you know, I think initially it was said in a moment of anger and then it was – I don't understand what the Golden Globes was about," she said. "And now I think at this point we're trying very hard to just move past it and mend some bridges. And I think, I know for myself, I can't speak for the whole cast, but I'm certainly hopeful that this will bring about a better, more honest relationship with one another."

When Letterman asked if anyone was going to get fired over the incident, Heigl replied, "not that I know of."
