Heat Sign Majerle One Year

The Miami Heat re-signed forward Dan Majerle to a one-year contract Monday.

Majerle, who turns 34 next month, started 48 of the Heat's 50 games last season. He averaged 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

The signing reflects coach Pat Riley's desire to keep his team intact even though the Heat have lost in the first round of the playoffs the past two years.

Miami's other roster moves this offseason have been the signing of free agent forward Otis Thorpe, and the loss of guard Terry Porter, who signed a free-agent contract with San Antonio.
