Harry Reid Sees A Bobcat

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) opened the second session of the 110th Congress this morning, and he told his colleagues about a run-in (of the best kind) with a bobcat  while back home in his beloved Searchlight, Nevada.

Reid spent the last month in Searchlight, and he and his wife were working in the study when a bobcat showed up outside their home. The bobcat stopped by to drink water from some ceramic dishes that the Reids have set up for the local wildlife.

"For those of us who live in the desert, seeing a bobcat is almost like seeing an abonimable snowman," Reid said. "Rarely does one see a bobcat. They do most of their hunting at night. They're secretive in everything that they do." Cue congressional jokes here.

The bobcat spotted Reid and his wife Landra, who were inside the house looking out the window at it. The bobcat, clearly a Republican, didn't like what he saw.

"This little animal finished its water, looking around, and saw me in the window and boy, that animal hit the window and it was after me and whatever it could see at the window," Reid revealed. Fortunately for everyone, the bobcat was too small to get through the window. Can you imagine the headlines - "Senator Mauled by Bobcat." It would have been the greatest story ever.

Anyway, this is what Harry Reid does in his off time - almost gets chomped on by wild animals. Just so you know.
