"Hangover II" felt throughout the social media box office

"Hangover II" rages in the social media box office
"The Hangover Part II" takes the top spot at the holiday box office, taking in $86.4 million Warner Bros.

(CBS/What's Trending) - "The Hangover Part II" managed a staggering $135.15 million domestically and $60.25 million internationally over just five days -- easily the best opening ever for an R-rated comedy. The raunchy sequel is in a league of its own when it comes to activity on Facebook and Twitter. On Facebook, "The Hangover Part II" added 317,020 new likes from early Friday morning until Monday night for a total of 13.6 million.

How big is that exactly? Well, keep in mind that the official page for "The Twilight Saga" had 7.4 million likes on the day that "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" opened. "The Hangover Part II's" tweet count reached 289,067 during the same period.

"Kung Fu Panda 2" was overshadowed in a big way by its crude competitor. The animated sequel grabbed $68 million domestically and $57 million internationally. On Facebook, "Kung Fu Panda 2" added 113,648 new likes over the four-day weekend for a total of 3.9 million. By comparison, "Toy Story 3" tacked on 201,176 for a total of 1.8 million. "KFP2's" tweet count of 39,597 doesn't look all that impressive when compared to "Toy Story 3's" 74,106.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" reached a worldwide total of $646.9 million this weekend thanks to $50.4 million domestically and $135 million internationally over the extended holiday frame. "The Pirates of the Caribbean" page was able to add 297,585 new likes for a total of close to 6.1 million. On Twitter, the sequel inspired another 12,578 tweets.

"Bridesmaids" is still going strong at the box office. The Kristen Wiig vehicle took in another $21 million over the four-day frame for a total of $89.6 million. Universal clearly has a $100 million domestic hit on their hands.

"Thor" finished in fifth with $12.0 million, giving it a domestic total of $162.4 million.
