Gunman in clown mask robs Subway restaurant
HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are trying to find the "clown" who robbed a Subway restaurant at gunpoint near Pittsburgh.
According to CBS Pittsburgh, it happened Saturday night in Hempfield Township; investigators say the robber wearing a clown mask, as well as a parka with a fur collar, tan pants and black gloves.
He got away with the cash register and $2 from a customer, the station says.
"I heard the doorbell ding and went to get up for a normal customer coming in," an employee told CBS Pittsburgh.
"He raised the gun and pointed it at me, and I started running," she added.
During the heist, in which the suspect ripped the cash register right off the counter, a 17-year-old girl came into the store. The robber allegedly held a gun to the girl's head, and took $2 from her.
The suspect reportedly left the store in the "clown car" -- a white minivan, heading west on Route 30. Police say the robber may have been accompanied by a woman, who was about 5-feet-6-inches tall. The gun was described as being about 5-feet-9.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call state police in Greensburg.
