Google Voice Finally Comes to the iPhone

I'm a big fan of Google Voice. As I've mentioned before, this service gives you free unlimited domestic calling, free text messaging, voicemail as transcribed e-mail, call recording, and calls that follow you to any phone. What's been missing, up till now, is a way to fully integrate Google Voice into your iPhone. Not anymore.

Apple has finally relented, and accepted Google's Google Voice app into the iPhone app store. For most of the last year, I've been using Google's slightly clumsy Web app, but a real app is finally available.

It's a fairly understated app, with just the essentials: a dialer, contacts page, and inbox to see your voicemail and text messages.

What you won't find are detailed settings (go visit the Google Voice Web page for that), or any on-screen controls for advanced features like call recording. But it does what it does quite well. If you've held off on checking out Google Voice because it didn't integrated seamlessly into your iPhone, the wait is finally over.
