Google marks 66th anniversary of Roswell UFO sighting

Celebrating the 66th anniversary of the Roswell "flying saucer" sighting, the doodle is an interactive game. Users help a small alien navigate through a black-and-white ranch, collecting supplies like rope and gasoline. But be careful where your alien steps: one black hole leads to a valley, with no clear escape.

As it wanders around the ranch, the alien collects the pieces for a UFO that will help him return to his home planet. The UFO resembles the craft that supposedly landed on a similar ranch near Roswell, N.M., on July 8, 1947. The U.S. government has explained that what skywatchers saw that night 66 years ago was debris from an Air Force high-altitude balloon test flight -- but the notion of a visit from an alien planet has transfixed conspiracy theorists and folklorists to this day.
