Gmail Improves File-Attachment Selection, Monitoring

Good news for Gmail users: Google just made it easier to select multiple files to attach to an e-mail, while at the same time adding a progress meter so you can monitor the files as they upload.

These are minor improvements to be sure, but welcome ones. For as long as Gmail's been around, attachment selection was a painful, one-at-a-time process.

Now, when you browse a folder, you can hold down the Ctrl key (or Cmd if you're a Mac user) as you click each file you want to attach. (Or, click the first file you want, hold down the Shift key, and then click the last one.)

As the files get uploaded, you'll see a progress bar alongside each one -- thus putting an end to "are they done?" mysteries.

I'm kinda surprised it took Google so long to incorporate such a simple, but important, feature. But, hey, Gmail's still free, and arguably the best e-mail service on the planet, so I can't, in good conscience, complain. (Can I? Just a little, maybe?) [via AppScout]
