(CBS) "Glee" stars Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith, whose characters are all due to graduate from McKinley High School, will not be getting a spin-off, according to Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly.

Reilly told reporters at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour that Rachel Berry, Kurt Hummel and Finn Hudson "will graduate" and that has led to an "interesting idea that I think is going to give us something cool to dig into for next season," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

When asked if Colfer, who plays Kurt, would be returning, Reilly said the network would have to look at the cast's contracts but "creatively, we'd want to see them all back." Lea Michele, who plays Rachel, is confirmed to return next season, reports THR.

Rumors had been floating around about a spin-off of the characters pursuing their Broadway dreams.

"That was something we were planting as a possibility, but we didn't get much further than that," co-creator Brad Falchuck said in July, according to the website.

Now, Reilly believes that they may end up with "some version" of a show within a show, reports THR.
