Giuliani Supporters Worry He's Behind
Despite his high standing in public opinion polls, supporters and outside advisors of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani are concerned that he's not moving fast enough to enter the 2008 race, hire staff and raise money.
Some have gone as far as to tell Giuliani lieutenants that he's almost missed the window to enter since other candidates, notably Sen. John McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, have aggressively recruited top fundraisers and GOP policy aides.
Others, however, tell U.S. News that the popular former mayor has a little more time to make his mind up and announce his intentions. One advisor suggested that if Giuliani makes additional personnel moves-he has started hiring some staff, including press and communications aides-they "I would be willing to believe the window is open for another 60-90 days."
