Get a Basecamp Wiki for Every Project

basecamp.jpgRick has mentioned it before, but here's another reminder that if you're looking for an online collaboration tool, Basecamp is the way to go. I use Basecamp wikis to collaborate on story ideas for the magazine I run, collect tips for Business Hacks, and manage several different small software projects. I even have a few Basecamp wikis of which I'm the only collaborator, as they're a great, free way to organize and store my thoughts.

I particularly like the writeboard section of Basecamp, as it's basically a sensible version control tracker for documents that I'm working on with other folks (MS Word could learn a thing or two from it). And I like the fact that you get to pick your own URL for your wiki so you can find it no matter where you are or what computer you're using. I also like the fact that Basecamp is a 37signals company, so it meshes well with their other apps, like Backpack, and other companies like ProofHQ build their products with Basecamp specifically in mind.

So yeah, I'm a fan. Pretty soon, I'll need a Basecamp wiki to organize all of my Basecamp wikis.
