Gandolfini, HBO Sing The Blues
Actor James Gandolfini has reportedly filed a complaint claiming HBO breached his contract for a fifth season on the mob drama "The Sopranaos."
In the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Gandolfini says HBO missed a deadline for advising the actor that his services would be needed for a fifth season, scheduled to begin filming on March 24.
"This doesn't mean he will not show up for work on March 24," Martin Singer, Gandolfini's lawyer, told the Daily News for Friday editions. "We have till then to evaluate what he will do. We're seeking a declaration from the court that he does not legally have to render acting services for this season."
The Daily News reported that Gandolfini, who earns about $400,000 an episode, including bonuses, is seeking $750,000 an episode.
Gandolfini, 41, plays wiseguy Tony Soprano on the popular HBO drama.
Although it's been a goldmine for his career and his bank account, Gandolfini has reportedly had second thoughts about continuing in the role that made him famous - because of the show's violence and the way it portrays Italian-Americans.
He's also been in situations where "The Sopranos" contract has apparently forced him to turn down offers he'd rather not have refused.
According to imdb.com, Gandolfini was cast in last year's con man caper movie - "Catch Me If You Can" - in the role that later went to Tom Hanks.
Gandolfini reportedly had to step aside because of his commitment to HBO.
