Gadget Love: Wiffinder 200 Laptop Bag
Sure, your notebook can sniff out nearby Wi-Fi networks -- after you find someplace to sit, pull it out of your bag, and wait several minutes for it to boot up. In an ideal universe, you'd just push a button on, say, your carrying case to check for hotspots.
Welcome to the ideal universe. Spain-based Soyntec offers a line of bags with built-in Wi-Fi detectors. The Wiffinder 200, for instance, is a shoulder-strap bag with a detector embedded in the top flap. Push the button and the LCD (which doubles as a clock -- handy!) shows the signal strength of any available 802.11b/g networks. The Wiffinder series also includes a backpack, trolley suitcase, and executive case.
Prices are reasonable, too: The Wiffinder 200 (pictured) sells for 34,40 Euros, or around $50. The only tricky part appears to be ordering one; I wasn't able to find any purchasing links on the company's site. Let us know if you fare better. [via Crave]
