Common problem: You work in that corner of the office where Wi-Fi reception is weak at best. Or maybe you're juuust out of range of that Wi-Fi hotspot. hField Technologies' Wi-Fire combines a high-powered antenna with a super-sensitive receiver to give your notebook three times its normal range. Maybe even more, according to the guy at Macenstein who reviewed the Wi-Fire and reported a boost of nearly 5x. Not bad for a gadget that costs just $79. The Wi-Fire plugs into an available USB port; it's available for both Windows and Mac systems. If you rely heavily on hotspots but frequently have trouble getting a good signal, the Wi-Fire may be just the ticket.
