(CBS/WGCL) FAIRBURN, Ga. - A woman in north Georgia is in police custody after allegedly running over her boyfriend with her car, killing him. Sharees Dennard, 30, is charged with murder, according to police in Fairburn, about 20 miles from Atlanta.

Police responded at 2:15 a.m. Sunday to what was first reported as a hit-and-run case involving a pedestrian. But after investigating, police determined that the victim and his girlfriend were arguing at a nearby residence before the incident.

Police said that as the woman was leaving, the victim jumped onto her car and eventually either jumped or was thrown from the vehicle. Police said the woman then intentionally ran over the man and fled the scene. At least two other cars may have also struck the body.

Tony McDaniel lives near the scene. He said he came running toward the highway when he heard the initial impact.

"By the time I got here with my dog, I heard it again, another thump," he said.

McDaniel said he tried to warn unsuspecting drivers that there was a body in the road.

"I waved my hat and shirt, telling everybody to get over on the side of the road," McDaniel said. "They all listened for a few seconds. But then a car came flying and hit him again."

Police have not identified the victim.
