(CBS/AP) COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - A Georgia man has been sentenced to life in prison in the shooting death of a College Park store owner who he thought short-changed his girlfriend.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that 43-year-old Eric Carr pleaded guilty Wednesday in the shooting death of 52-year-old Michael Moore, on Oct. 15, 2010 in Moore's convenience store on Roosevelt Highway.

Carr was given two consecutive life sentences and an additional 15 years. According to CBS affiliate WGCL, Carr's guilty plea came minutes before his trial was set to begin.

Prosecutors say Carr had pulled a gun on the store clerk and took money from the cash register when Moore entered the store from a back room. Carr pointed a gun at Moore and opened fire, fatally wounding Moore in the chest.

Prosecutors say investigators determined that Carr went to the store to confront Moore for allegedly short-changing his girlfriend.
