FSU's Weinke Says He's Ready
Florida State quarterback Chris Weinke participated in a full practice Thursday and said he will be ready to start Saturday's game against No. 7 Miami.
"My foot got better every day this week. I'll be ready to go on Saturday," Weinke said.
But coach Bobby Bowden said he will wait until Friday to decide if the senior will start.
Weinke moved better than expected on his sprained left ankle Thursday while taking snaps and working on passing drills. The No. 1 ranked Seminoles will not practice Friday.
Offensive coordinator Mark Richt said the coaching staff could wait until game time before naming the starting quarterback. He does not want to play Weinke if there is a chance he could be lost for the remainder of the season.
Weinke hurt the ankle in the third quarter of FSU's 59-7 win over Maryland last week. Fifth-year senior Marcus Outzen could get the start if Weinke is not ready, Richt said.
