Friday is Funday: Change the Status Message on HP Printers

hp-status-message.jpgIf there's an HP printer in your office, one that has an LED status readout, here's your chance to have some fun. By following the instructions laid out at Hackszine.com, you can change the default "READY" message to, well, whatever you want. (I suggest "ME WANT FOOD," which 30 Rock fans will appreciate.) It seems like a pretty simple hack, though you do need to mess with Telnet (which is accessible in Windows by clicking Start > Run and then typing 'telnet'). Just wish I had the right kind of printer here so I could try it out!

What message do you think would be most hilarious (or most likely to freak out the IT department when they're called in to investigate)? Share your ideas in the Comments. [via Lifehacker]
