Fresno State's Brunner In Hot Water
The district attorney's office filed Wednesday against former Fresno State basketball recruit Kenny Brunner, who allegedly robbed a junior college coach of $1,500 at gunpoint.
Brunner, who pleaded innocent to the charges, was held on $550,000 bail, according to Deputy District Attorney Malcolm Jordan.
Brunner, 19, is due back in court June 10 for a conference to determine when a hearing on the evidence against him will be held.
Brunner and Los Angeles City College player Ladale Lunnie were arrested Friday after coach Michael Miller reported that he had been robbed of $1,500 at the school.
Lunnie, 20, of Hawthorne, Calif., was charged with one count of robbery. He posted $35,000 bail and his arraignment was set for June 18.
Brunner, of Los Angeles, transferred from Georgetown to Fresno State last season and would have been eligible to play next season. However, the junior point guard was suspended from the Bulldogs after being arrested March 17 for allegedly assaulting a man with a samurai sword and robbing him of cash and a camera.
Brunner and teammate Avondre Jones pleaded innocent on April 16 in Fresno County Municipal Court to assault and other crimes. Jones has been removed from the team.
