Former Rep. Guy Vander Jagt Passes Away
Former GOP Rep. Guy Vander Jagt (Mich.) passed away today at age 75. Vander Jagt, who served 14 terms in the House from 1965 to 1992, died of pancreatic cancer.
Vander Jagt, who worked as a lobbyist at the firm Baker Hostetler, served as the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee from 1975 to his retirement from Congress. Although he never saw Republicans win control of the House, Vander Jagt was credited with helping lay the groundwork for the "Republican Revolution" of 1994.
