For Women Who Want To Get Sexy
If you're a woman who wants to look your best for your Valentine, then Cheryl Kramer, beauty editor at Redbook magazine, has some suggestions. On The Saturday Early Show, she shared tips on how to be "irresistible" from head to toe this Valentine's Day.
When it comes to impressing your Valentine, every woman knows how far she wants to go, Kramer points out. As a rule, it's better to make subtle changes and let your man discover them. But, she adds, if you want to go all-out vamp, she's not going to stop you!
Here are Kramer's tips:
HAIR
Men fall for the "sexy librarian" look every time. Put your hair up with some sparkly bobby pins, then let him pull them out for you. When your hair tumbles down from the updo, he's a goner.
You can choose from an assortment of floral bobby pins, barrettes and "anywhere" clips at Tarina Tarantino. Some have embellishments like Swarovski crystals, butterflies, or skulls (for that naughty/nice vibe). Prices range from $15 to $88 each. Also, you can get rhinestone bobby pins for $18 each at Zitomer.com.
The bobby pin trick works on short hair, too. Just letting him touch your hair and "undress" you will get him going.
LIPS
These are a good body part to sexy-up, since you'll probably want a kiss (or several) from your Valentine. The goal is not to have any lip gloss left on by the end of the night.
Full lips invite kisses. You can get lost in pillow lips. To achieve the look, try these products:
A little shimmer on your lips is enticing, but don't go overboard putting it in too many places or you'll look like a frosted doughnut. Try Revlon Sugar Lip Toppings, $15 at drug stores.
MeetMark has combined lip gloss and heart-shaped breath mints in one tube. The genius of Mark Hook Ups gloss and mints ($5 at MeetMark.com is that you can mix and match your shade and your mint flavor, so pick whatever color you like.
BODY
Sexy skin has a subtle sheen to it, like you've just stepped out of a steamy shower. A new category of body washes called cream-oils leave a light layer of oil on your skin after you shower. Available at drug stores are Caress Exotic Oil Infusions Body Wash, $4, and Dove Cream Oil Body Wash, $4.
If you are using perfume, know that fragrance should go anywhere you feel a heartbeat: cleavage, nape of the neck, behind the knees and on the wrists. Those places heat up, sending the scent into the air.
Kramer recommends Agent Provocateur Maitresse, with white lotus flower, fruits and amber. $115 at AgentProvocateur.com.
FEET
Women's feet are so much smaller and more delicate than a man's that they think they're adorable. Kramer says red nail polish makes your toes look like delicious little candies. Try Essie Fishnet Stockings, $8, at Essie.com For Salons, Sally Hansen No Chip 10 Day Nail Color in Resilient Red at drug stores, or OPI Big Apple Red, $7.50, at OPI.com.
Use massage oil. Kramer says the bottom of your feet have thousands of nerve endings, making them an erotic hot spot. A foot massage is a great way to connect, relax, and start to feel sexy. Try Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Sensual Massage Oil, $16 at BathAndBodyWorks.com.
WHAT ABOUT MEN?
As for men, they ought to get a clean, close shave, because "beard burn" is a killer. The guys should try Billy Jealousy Hot Towel Pre-Shave Treatment, $22, and Hydroplace Shave Cream, $20, both at BillyJealousy.com, and Truman's Professional Razor & Brush Stand, $150, at trumans-nyc.com.
