For Cyber-Savvy Females: ChickClick

A home on the web for females with attitude.

It is called ChickClick....dreamed up for Imagine Media by 25 year old Heidi Swanson....

"ChickClick is an umbrella for 20 independent, female powered zines on the web."

Zines are web based magazines. ChickClick pools their resources to attract advertising...

"And everyday on the front page of ChickClick we update all the new content network wide. So, you hit this front page, you know everything new that's going on across the entire network."
Which includes sites like Go, Girl for women in sports, Lawgirl, where you'll find advice and lots of answers to legal questions, Disgruntled Housewife, Breakupgirl, two sites where men take a bit of a beating and SmartyPants, a zine with interesting fiction and non-fiction. The sites, says Swanson, are aiming for the same basic audience...

"Young, hip, urban females. What they're doing. What they're concerns are. Addressing real issues. I know a lot of people are kind of tired with the whole Glamour-Cosmo ...the same old stuff you see every month which is like... how to do your make-up, fifty tips to great lips and blah, blah, blah."

Swanson calls it personal publishing. And, she says, it helps to draw more women to the Internet and overcome some stereotypes...

"It's not nerdy. It's not geeky."

The site is chickclick.com.
