FlyDubai, Air China Top Farnborough Order Counts

Yawn. From an order perspective, Farnborough wasn't exactly shocking this year. Sure, there were a couple big orders, but they were mostly out of the Middle East, possibly the only place where airlines are not hunkering down right now. Forgetting about leasing companies and "unidentified" orders, here's what I've seen so far.

Middle East & Oil-Producing Nations

  • Aeroflot ordered 5 A321s
  • Arik Air (Nigeria) ordered 7 737-700s
  • Etihad had the biggest order this year with 35 787s (options for 25 more and purchase rights for 10), 10 777-300ERs (options for 10 more and purchase rights for 5), 20 A320s (options for 5 more and purchase rights for 15), 25 A350 XWBs (options for 10 more and purchase rights for 15), and 10 A380s (options for 5 more and purchase rights for 5). Whew.
  • Dubai's brand new low cost carrier startup FlyDubai ordered 50 737-800s and leased 4 more.
  • Qatar Airways ordered 4 A321s
  • Saudi Arabian ordered 8 A330s
  • Tunisair firmed up its order for 3 A350 XWBs, 3 A330-200s, and 10 A320s
Elsewhere
  • Aeromexico ordered 12 Embraer 190s
  • Air China ordered 15 777-300ERs and 30 737-800s
