Florida day care crash suspect has bail set

ORLANDO, Fla. - A judge has upheld a $100,000 bond for a man accused in a crash that killed a 4-year-old girl and injured several others at a central Florida daycare center.

Prosecutors sought to raise 28-year-old Robert Corchado's bail to $250,000 during the Monday morning hearing, arguing the defendant is a flight risk. Corchado's attorney wanted it lowered to $7,500.

Corchado turned himself in to authorities Thursday, a day after they say his vehicle crashed into a convertible, sending it spinning into a KinderCare building in Winter Park. He is charged with fleeing the scene of a deadly crash and fleeing the scene of a crash causing injuries.

Corchado testified in short answers during the Monday morning hearing. He says he has three young children. The judge ordered him to stay in central Florida if he is released on bail and told him not to drive.

If Corchado is released, he would likely be arrested on violation of probation charges in neighboring Seminole County.

Lily Quintus, 4, was killed and 14 others were injured in the crash.
