PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (CBS/AP) The name Ginger Littleton may not be immediately recognizable; however, her brown, faux crocodile purse is, after it made headlines last week when Littleton used it in a daring attempt to disarm a raging gunman at a Florida school board meeting.

In fact, the purse has become so popular that Littleton has put it up for auction on eBay, with the proceeds to go to a charity run by the security chief who wounded the shooter right before he killed himself.

Although eBay had suspended the auction Friday because it did not meet the legal requirements for a charitable listing, the website has since resolved the issue and says the purse is once again up for grabs.

Before the prized purse was temporarily removed, bidding had reached more than $1,000.

Littleton, a Florida school board member, tried to use her purse to swat the gun from the hands of a 56-year-old Clay Duke, who took her and her fellow board members hostage at a Bay District School Board meeting in Panama City, Fla. on Tuesday.

Duke had stormed the meeting to protest his wife's firing by the district.

He asked all women and children to leave the room, but while Duke was ranting to the male members of the school board Littleton reentered the room, then dangerously tried to disarm him, fortunate to escape unharmed.

Security guard Mike Jones stepped in after Duke fired at the board members and was able to shoot the gunman in the leg causing him to fall to the floor. Duke then took his own life.

The auction of the purse is set to end Wednesday.
