Fla. Murder-Suicide Update: Veteran educator shot dead at Jacksonville's Episcopal High

(CBS/WTEV) JACKSONVILLE , Fla. - The Head of School at Episcopal High is among the two people killed on campus Tuesday afternoon in what police are calling a murder-suicide, reports CBS affiliate WTEV.

Police say a person walked onto campus with an assault rifle hidden in a guitar case and shot Dale Regan to death before taking their own life. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm Tuesday. No students were hurt.

Police believe a former worker who had been fired yesterday is the one who killed Regan, a woman regarded as a beloved educator with Episcopal for the past thirty years. The shooter has not been identified.

"Everyone is deeply shocked and saddened at this time," said The Very Rev. Katherine B. (Kate) Moorehead, a Dean at the school.

A text to Action News from a former student at Episcopal called Regan a true ambassador of the school. "She was great, she's been there forever, a very kind person," wrote David Cangemi.

"Our community is deeply saddened to lose this beloved headmaster," added Dean Moorehead.
