(CBS/AP) BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Only in the land of a million golf courses. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office in central Florida has charged a man with driving under the influence - in a golf cart - after he was spotted going the wrong way on a divided highway.

A sheriff's deputy stopped 36-year-old Eric Perez shortly after midnight Saturday, the cart had no lights and Perez reportedly smelled like alcohol.

After failing a series of sobriety tests - one of which was presumably whether a sober person would drive a golf cart on a highway at all - Perez was arrested and charged with DUI.

This was apparently not a surprise to Perez who, according to the arrest report, told the deputy that he was going to have a hard time performing the exercises because he had been "drinking," according to local station News 13.

When tested at the jail, his blood alcohol level was determined to be 0.25 and 0.24 percent, more than three times the legal limit for Florida drivers.

The golf cart, which belonged not to a golf course but to a local campground, was returned to its owner and Perez's passengers - yes he had passengers - were returned home safely by deputies.
